Off-Road Adventure is a self-drive trip for travellers who want to leave the highway behind: the coves of Bandar Al Khayran, the Bimmah Sinkhole, the canyon of Wadi Al Arbeieen, Wadi Shab and Wadi Bani Khalid, the Wahiba Sands and the mountain roads of Jebel Akhdar, finishing on the beach at Sawadi. You sleep in a rooftop tent, far from the crowds. A driver and escort accompany you in the desert; the rest of the trip is yours to drive.

Pick up your 4x4 with its roof tent and camping gear. Spend the evening exploring Muscat at your own pace, or rest before the trip begins.
Overnight: Muscat (hotel or camping)Visit the Sultan Qaboos Grand Mosque, walk the Muttrah Corniche and Muttrah Souq, and see Al Alam Palace between the Al Jalali and Al Mirani forts. Stock up on supplies, then drive to Bandar Al Khayran and set up camp above its turquoise bay.
Overnight: Camping at Bandar Al KhayranStart with a swim in the bay, then stop at the Bimmah Sinkhole, a turquoise pool in a limestone crater. Continue into the mountains to Wadi Al Arbeieen, with palm groves, rock pools and emerald water below high cliffs.
Overnight: Camping at Wadi Al ArbeieenFollow the coast road to Wadi Shab. A short boat ride starts the walk through the canyon to clear pools and a cave with a small waterfall. Then relax on the white sand of Fins Beach and walk along the shore at sunset.
Overnight: Camping at Fins BeachSwim in the green pools of Wadi Bani Khalid and explore its small caves. In the Wahiba Sands, ride the dunes with a professional driver, try sandboarding and watch the sunset, then enjoy dinner and a campfire at a desert camp.
